Meet the author

I am currently a student working my Masters degree in public health in New York City. I have spent the last two years working in health positions and volunteering abroad, looking at health issues in countries such as China, Ghana and Jamaica.
My work has revolved around STDs, sex education, diabetes/obesity and health insurance, as well as broadening my knowledge of international public health.
In addition to my masters degree in public health I am obtaining a certificate in health journalism through the CUNY School of Journalism, wherein I have honed my writing skills and blogging capabilities. Blogs that I have written can be found on Nuestra Vida, Nuestra Voz, http://latinainstitute.wordpress.com/. Through a year-long Journalism School diabetes project on underserved residents in Hunts Point, Bronx, I have contributed nutritional information to an upcoming website designed to increase diabetes awareness and prevention within the community.
